GENERAL/REPAIR CARE GUIDE!
Fursuits are NOT indestructible! General wear may cause seams to pop. I suggest always having a small repair kit to take with you to conventions. In these kits include: small low temp glue gun, glue sticks, strong upholstery thread, general sewing needles, and scissors. For reachable inside popped seams use a blanket stitch. And for any on the head or other outside spots use a ladder stitch. Both very easy to learn. For anything severe feel free to contact me for help or to fix.
Brushing: Any dog wire brush will do. Do NOT brush your fursuit like you would brush an animal's fur. Turn the brush the opposite way (or wrong way) and brush that way. This will make your fursuit look nice, but not pull all of the fur out.
Eyes/head: Eyes are the most delicate part of the fursuit. Try not to get wet! If spraying with disinfect to clean the head ,and some of the water or solution gets on that it is ok. Ideally you will cover the eyes with something when cleaning the head. There is a spray coated over the eyes to keep the paint from running. DO NOT completely submerge head under water! If not dried properly after the foam could start to grow mold and mildew which is no good! I suggest using a carpet cleaner with a detachable head and clean the suit that way. If your suit has air brushing, this could make the air brushing fade over time, you can always send back for touchups if needed!
Washing: Tails, arm sleeves, and handpaws, digi legs, and bodysuits can be washed in a bathtub, sink, or washer with cold or lukewarm water. And any colorless laundry detergent can be used with it. Do use super hot water, it can melt and ruin the fur. On that note do not use a blow dryer directly on, or anything else heated to dry your fursuit.
The neck of the fursuit can be washed in water as well, try not to get the foam submerged in water. You can use a damp washcloth to clean the rest of the head and feet paws. And always make sure everything gets thoroughly dried before wearing! Make sure to turn bodysuit and digi legs inside out and put in washer, wash COLD and AIR DRY! The padding can be the same wash on COLD and can dry on LOW HEAT, may need to re fluff them when they get out. Spot Shot (found at Walmart) is safe to use on fur for bad stains, made sure to wash thoroughly afterwards!
After wearing: After wearing your fursuit for long periods of time make sure to spray with a disinfectant spray made of half rubbing alcohol and half water. Especially spray the inside of the head, and ideally put a fan in it so it stays clean and aired out, you don't want any gross bacteria growing in there!
Storage: Try not to keep (mostly the head) stored in a dark place for long periods of time. Always make sure everything is cleaned and completely aired out before storing. Again, you don't want any icky bacteria, mold, or mildew growing in your suit.
